I was told last night that Merlin wasn't doing so well. He's 40 year old mini with the warmest of hearts and the most gentle soul. He was running a very high temperature and wasn't looking like he may make it through the night.
I went down to lay hands on him. As I arrived I found that he was surrounded by his 2 legged family worrying about this horse and his prognosis. The vet was out on 2 other emergencies as they were waiting for some sign in one direction or another. He wasn't very that I was attempting to do the reiki on him in his stall so, tied to the cross ties he stood with a tears staining his face, allowing me to offer his the reiki energy. Reassuring him he was loved, whispering in his ears,"good boy" I felt him relax into the energy and let go a bit. It's quite rewarding when an animal relaxes into you allowing the work in. When he was done, he twisted wanting to return to his stall. Once returned to his "room" as I like to refer to it as, he ate some and his fever dropped a little. This little guy is quite ill so the reality of him not living much longer is the truth, as painful as that is. His 2 legged family, as with any family, want to get another day and they got that. However, making the decision when enough is enough is one that is truly devastating when you love the animal or person. I have found that the deepest love comes forth when you are facing death directly in it's face and you embrace it, accept it for what it is and allow the feelings to emerge. It's not something you can prepare for, it's brought on as it happens and allowing the natural flow of emotions to rise and come forth guides you in facing it, accepting it, and knowing this transition,is the next step. Release with love, showing that trusting all is as it should be. They are still there, just in another form.

I have begun to visit a new rescue and have done reiki on one of the horses there, when she was quite ill.
My goal is to become more acclimated to the horses that are rescued and help with healing and transition from the dark past they have come from. They are expecting a hurt, new horse the end of November and I am excited to begin the journey with this animal when she arrives to help heal and reopen her heart to feel the loving kindness that she will receive from all the people there. The work is draining for me but while it tires me out, it is such a powerful learning tool for myself. As I offer my help to heal them, I too am getting healing. The animal in turn is giving me trust and love in return. It is quite humbling when you stand next to animal 2-3 times your weight never mind their strength and feel them shed their walls and allow you in. That indescribable feeling is love. Hello and thanks for stopping by my corner. I will be using the blog to share with all my experiences and thoughts about my journey with using Reiki to help animals.
Currently most of my experience has been with friends animals or the horses at various horse rescues. I started Reiki in 2001 when a friend introduced me to this energy modallity. I was intrigued and very excited to explore all it has to offer. So over the past 10+ years I have been educating myself via classes, tele-conferences, workshops and training's to reach where I am today. I am not at the end of my learning but rather at the beginning. As you learn, when you begin to use Reiki, your life changes, your perspective is altered to a positive outlook. It has opened my heart to changes I never knew I could happen or needed to happen. So I am now opening myself to offering Reiki to animals, large or small. Some animals will be a challenge for me but I am willing to try to work with all. I also will do Reiki on people, but I do prefer and feel a strong calling to focus on the animals of our planet. My sessions range from emergency treatment to just a relaxing time exchanging energies. The contact page on this site allows you to email me with questions you may have. I would love to hear from you with any and all questions. Hopefully I will have the answers or attempt to find them for you. Looking forward - wishing you blessings of love, peace and tranquility.
