Welcome 2018! This is looking to be an exciting year ahead with many new adventures on their way. I welcome comments to my page and my posts. Animal Reiki class will be set up in the spring. It's way too chilly now to even think about it. Brrrrrr Also follow me on Facebook - I have a few new classes I am tweaking to begin teaching this coming year.
Look for me in April 2018 at the Awaken Fair in Tarrytown again. November was a huge success and I look forward to meeting new people again this year.
Blessing to all who read this with hopes of love surrounding you and helping you grow into being a better you!
I have been amiss with my blog postings and have made it my intention to post at minimum once a month. The world has changed dramatically since I decided to start this business of teaching people Reiki and how to love and grow. Part of learning how to teach people is to also experience it. I have found through the countless classes I have taken in my life that experience is a teacher that holds the strongest message for me. You learn by trying - trying to do something new, trying to do something differently. You learn by trying what is working and what isn't working. Especially when it comes to us humans. We aren't all the same, it's not unlike a small engine or a nut and bolt. It's complex and intricate and we have to try things out to see what fits with each of our individual personalities. You learn by watching - watching someone do something that holds interest for you. I remember watching my Gram make Irish Soda Bread. While I have her recipe to follow, pieces of what I learned would be lost from "just" reading it. By watching Gram, I saw that the raisins need to be plump and dry but not shriveled. This is harder to explain and easier to be shown. I learned the steps of the unspoken words in Gram’s recipe by watching her. You learn by doing - actually taking a stab at what you've thought about trying, what you may have watched be done, and then doing it. In actually doing something you learn how it works, what may make it better, and what isn't working. So this spring, I am returning to some of my roots. I am returning to help, educate, and offer support for people that don't fit into the standardized philosophies of what works in helping others. I have a thousand slogans to toss out to you, but again, they don't always provide the solution or the support everyone needs. While working in various settings of rehab centers, I realized that each person entering had a unique experience, a unique starting point, bottom point, ending point. However, each and every one of them sought out one general thing - loving acceptance. You may not think this is powerful but think about a time when you messed up or when you had to tell someone you cared about that you screwed up. What was your sincere wish while telling them what went wrong? Don't stop loving me and don't stop accepting me for me. I enjoy teaching, . I always have. My fondest memories of working were the teachable moments. Whether in a group setting, individual setting, or in a public forum, teaching made me smile. Witnessing the moment when a person gets it, not because I gave them the answer but because they found that answer within themselves, just by being them authentically and by being lovingly accepted for who they are. Allowing them to learn from guidance and supportive love from others who understand the difficulty
To maintain sobriety, mental health, physical health, and weight loss for example, you have to learn what works for you. What is that key that unlocks your fears, your road blocks. The ones that are in the way of moving forward to enjoy another day. Finding that in support in each other, supporting another lifts you up to another level of leaning what you are capable of and how just sharing a part of your heart, your experience changes another. It's eye opening and once you learn the trick. Life isn't such a challenge any longer and staying clean isn't as hard today as it was yesterday. It adds perspective to your abilities, your desires to achieve what you want and loosing the fear of failure. I am starting a substance abuse support group this spring. We will start monthly and take it from there. It will respond to the needs of who comes, who wants it, and who needs it. It is open to anyone with at least a one year clean as well as to parents, spouses, adult children, partners, friends who want support in loving someone who used drugs. I want to bring love, hope, and support to you. I want you to feel free to allow yourself to become the best you can become. In this group, you will have a safe haven to let go and share your fears and your roadblocks to your success. This is for you to come talk, listen, cry, scream, hug a horse. It's all you need it to be to heal.
I was told last night that Merlin wasn't doing so well. He's 40 year old mini with the warmest of hearts and the most gentle soul. He was running a very high temperature and wasn't looking like he may make it through the night.
I went down to lay hands on him. As I arrived I found that he was surrounded by his 2 legged family worrying about this horse and his prognosis. The vet was out on 2 other emergencies as they were waiting for some sign in one direction or another. He wasn't very that I was attempting to do the reiki on him in his stall so, tied to the cross ties he stood with a tears staining his face, allowing me to offer his the reiki energy.
Reassuring him he was loved, whispering in his ears,"good boy" I felt him relax into the energy and let go a bit. It's quite rewarding when an animal relaxes into you allowing the work in. When he was done, he twisted wanting to return to his stall.
Once returned to his "room" as I like to refer to it as, he ate some and his fever dropped a little. This little guy is quite ill so the reality of him not living much longer is the truth, as painful as that is.
His 2 legged family, as with any family, want to get another day and they got that. However, making the decision when enough is enough is one that is truly devastating when you love the animal or person.
I have found that the deepest love comes forth when you are facing death directly in it's face and you embrace it, accept it for what it is and allow the feelings to emerge. It's not something you can prepare for, it's brought on as it happens and allowing the natural flow of emotions to rise and come forth guides you in facing it, accepting it, and knowing this transition,is the next step. Release with love, showing that trusting all is as it should be. They are still there, just in another form.
I have begun to visit a new rescue and have done reiki on one of the horses there, when she was quite ill. My goal is to become more acclimated to the horses that are rescued and help with healing and transition from the dark past they have come from.
They are expecting a hurt, new horse the end of November and I am excited to begin the journey with this animal when she arrives to help heal and reopen her heart to feel the loving kindness that she will receive from all the people there.
The work is draining for me but while it tires me out, it is such a powerful learning tool for myself. As I offer my help to heal them, I too am getting healing. The animal in turn is giving me trust and love in return. It is quite humbling when you stand next to animal 2-3 times your weight never mind their strength and feel them shed their walls and allow you in. That indescribable feeling is love.
Hello and thanks for stopping by my corner. I will be using the blog to share with all my experiences and thoughts about my journey with using Reiki to help animals. Currently most of my experience has been with friends animals or the horses at various horse rescues.
I started Reiki in 2001 when a friend introduced me to this energy modallity. I was intrigued and very excited to explore all it has to offer. So over the past 10+ years I have been educating myself via classes, tele-conferences, workshops and training's to reach where I am today. I am not at the end of my learning but rather at the beginning. As you learn, when you begin to use Reiki, your life changes, your perspective is altered to a positive outlook. It has opened my heart to changes I never knew I could happen or needed to happen.
So I am now opening myself to offering Reiki to animals, large or small. Some animals will be a challenge for me but I am willing to try to work with all.
I also will do Reiki on people, but I do prefer and feel a strong calling to focus on the animals of our planet. My sessions range from emergency treatment to just a relaxing time exchanging energies.
The contact page on this site allows you to email me with questions you may have. I would love to hear from you with any and all questions. Hopefully I will have the answers or attempt to find them for you.
Looking forward - wishing you blessings of love, peace and tranquility. Kerry
